The Greater Southwest Houston Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 60th year with a “Boots & Suits” gala and silent auction event held May 16 at Regal Ranch in Stafford. More than 100 guests attended the affair, including The Honorable Al Green, Unites States Congressman, who presented the Chamber with an American flag once flown over the U.S. Capitol. Also in attendance was West U. Mayor Bob Kelly, who presented the chamber with a proclamation, Bellaire Mayor Cindy Siegel and Bernie Satterwhite, Bellaire city manager.

Chaired by Randy Dobbs, Chairman of Community National Bank, the evening kicked off with an informal reception, complete with Texas tunes from Liz Talley & the TNT Band and appetizers by Christina Hurd of Not Just Cakes. Guests took part in a silent auction and viewed a video documenting the chamber’s 60 years produced by Tevin Marks of On Your Marks Productions. During the dinner portion of the evening, Greater Southwest Houston Chamber of Commerce Board Chairman & President of GBS Insurance Steve Davis spoke about the importance of this chamber within Southwest Houston and its effect on Houston’s economy over the past 60 years.
Platinum Sponsor of the evening and president of First Street Hospital, LP, Walter Leleux, recognized those in attendance whose companies have been members of the chamber for 40 years or more. These companies include the evening’s Gold Sponsor, CenterPoint Energy, and Silver Sponsors Chevron, GBS Insurance and AT&T. Also recognized for their dedication to the Chamber was Teas Nursery.
Proceeds from this event help fund ongoing programs and resources sponsored by the Greater Southwest Houston Chamber of Commerce, including networking opportunities, educational speakers, the chamber’s Web site, community partnerships and educational scholarships.
