A teacher at Bellaire High School who has worked to promote Indian culture in the Houston community was recently honored with an award from the school district.
Arun Prakash earned the Distinguished Asian American Educator award from the Houston Independent School District. Prakash’s Nov. 12 awards ceremony brought together dignitaries like Houston mayoral candidates Annise Parker and Gene Locke, as well as representatives from other school districts who honored staff members who are Asian Americans.
Prakash has received international recognition for authoring a Hindi textbook and promoting Indian culture in Houston.
