Things to Do

While they’re normally not allowed to even touch the artwork at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, children this weekend are invited to take up pens and actually draw at the museum — While creating their own artwork, of course.

The museum opens for families on Target Free First Sundays, the first Sunday of every month. On Feb. 7 from 1 to 5 p.m., museum visitors will be able to create silhouettes of themselves for display in a temporary gallery. The museum will also invite people to create works of art inspired by the view from their favorite windows.

The event also includes ballet folklorico and mariachi performances, and the 4 p.m. screening of a music documentary called Third Ward Blues by Houstonian Heather Korb.
