Police Investigate Bullet Shot Into Bellaire Home

Bellaire police are searching for a suspect who shot a gun into a home on Friday, lodging a bullet into a lounge chair.

Officers responded to the 500 block of South Third Street around 6:37 p.m. to investigate a 911 call of a suspicious person. Police determined that in the previous 24 hours, someone had shot a gun through the home’s front window. Officers are investigating the crime.

Police are also investigating several reports of home and car burglaries that happened during the week of Feb. 7 to 15.

  • On Feb. 7 around 11:45 a.m., a woman called police to the 4500 block of Evergreen Street to report a car burglary. She said someone broke into her car and stole her purse while she was playing in the park with her grandchildren.
  • Another woman’s purse was stolen in a car burglary on Feb. 9. Police responded to the crime in the 4600 block of Bellaire Boulevard around 2:10 p.m.
  • On Feb. 10, a resident called police to the 500 block of Winslow Lane to report that someone had stolen building materials from inside the home.
  • Two people reported to police on Feb. 11 that someone stole the wheels from their vehicles. The first theft happened in the 4700 block of Bellview Street. The second crime was reported in the 7200 block of Avenue Street.

Four others became the victims of theft during the week.

  • In two cases reported to police, suspects stole iPods and cash from the victims. The first theft happened Feb. 10 in the 6500 block of West Loop South. The second theft happened at Bellaire High School on Feb. 11.
  • Also at Bellaire High on Feb. 11, a victim reported to police that someone stole a cell phone.
  • On Feb. 12, police responded to the 5900 block of South Rice Avenue because a man reported that someone had stolen cash from his wallet on his desk.

Other incidents during the week included:

  • On Feb. 12, a victim reported to police that someone had used his client’s personal identification information to apply for a student loan.
  • On Feb. 13, an officer responded to the 4800 block of Palmetto Street because a resident reported that someone had damaged the rear window to the house.
