The Bellaire Police Department recently released an annual analysis of crime in the city, revealing that overall crime is down by 4.8 percent, but some types of offenses increased compared to 2008.
The analysis of 2009 crime reports shows that home burglaries, auto thefts and assaults increased, but there were decreases in reports of other theft, car burglaries and non-residential burglaries. Twenty-two robberies were reported in 2009, the same number reported in 2008. There were no sexual assaults or homicides.
During the year, police received 29,904 calls for service, with an average response time of three minutes and 43 seconds. Police made a total of 1,190 arrests during the year.
