Council Holds Public Hearing For Replacement Paul W. Horn Elementary School

The Bellaire City Council will hold a public hearing in the council chamber, first floor of city hall, 7008 S. Rice Ave. at 6 p.m. Monday.

The Houston Independent School District (HISD) has submitted an application and request to the city council to build an 85,000 square foot replacement school for Paul W. Horn Elementary School on the northeast corner of Avenue B and Holly Street.

Residents will have the chance to comment on the HISD request to city council by completing a sign-up sheet prior to the meeting.

City council will not make a decision on building the new school until May 3. Written comments from the public can be submitted to the council by April 29.

The council will hold their regular meeting at 7 p.m. in the council chamber, following the public hearing.

The council will discuss and consider the Rebuild Bellaire Bond Program, which involves coming up with a timetable of the sale of $6 million obligation bonds used for insurance costs and paving and drainage improvements.

Other items on the agenda include making an amendment to the emergency response services ordinance and adopting a policy to restrict funds for the purchase or acquisition of parkland.
