The Houston Zoo will join zoos and aquariums worldwide to make a splash on Tuesday in observance of World Ocean’s Day with an encore presentation for the world’s oceans on Saturday, June 12.
This year World Ocean’s Day coincides with the 50th anniversary of the publication of Dr. Seuss’s book, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.
On June 8 and June 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. there will be readings of Dr. Seuss’s children’s book as well as special sea lion presentations (learn more about how Astro the sea lion came to the Houston Zoo) and enrichment activities with denizens of the deep such as lionfish, eels, piranha, and the Houston Zoo’s resident octopus. Kids and families will get to know funny fish “from here to there” and learn how everyday actions impact their ocean home.
