Heat Wave Continues With Temps Near 100, Heat Index To 110

The Bellaire area will begin the week still sweltering under unrelenting heat, with highs near 100 and a heat index of 110.

Today’s forecast calls for afternoon highs of 98 – 100 degrees under mostly sunny skies and winds from the southwest at 10-15 mph.

Those temperatures coupled with humidity will produce a heat index topping 110.

There is a 20 percent chance of an isolated thunderstorm, mostly in the afternoon hours.

The heat is expected to continue on Tuesday, but with slightly increasing cloud cover.

Bellaire can expect to see a better chance of rain beginning Wednesday as a weak low moves into the Gulf of Mexico pushing more moisture across the area.

Those venturing outdoors today are encouraged to drink plenty of water and wear lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing and a hat to shield themselves from the sun. Use sunscreen to reduce the possibility of sunburn.
