Ex-Con Arrested for Stealing Bath Products from Bellaire CVS

Bellaire police arrested a 53-year-old Houston resident for stealing bath products from CVS on Feb. 5.

According to police reports, officers were called to CVS, 5430 Bissonnet, around 12:14 p.m. because a man took several items and left without paying.

The suspect, Michael Gastile, was found with more than $100 worth of body wash at a nearby Burger King.

Gastile was arrested and charged with Class B Theft.

According to documents on file with the Harris County District Clerk’s Office, Gastile has an extensive criminal background including aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, possession of crack cocaine and prostitution, amongst other things.

Gastile was sentenced to nine months in jail on Tuesday.

The bank robber known as the “Tall, Dark and Handsome Bandit,” was arrested this morning by agents of the FBI, as well as task force officers with the Beaumont Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Port Arthur Police, and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Police are questioning a tow truck driver who struck and killed a woman Monday at a strip shopping center in southwest Houston.

The tow truck hit the woman about 3 p.m. while pulling out of the shopping center in the 8800 block of Bellaire. The woman, 73, was dragged along the driveway until he stopped, Houston police said.

Hard on the heels of another Midtown brawl, three young men have been charged with felony aggravated assault/serious bodily injury after a December 20 beatdown at Celtic Gardens on Louisiana Street in Midtown.

Woman Robbed of Cell Phone at Bellaire Randall’s

A woman was robbed of her cell phone at Randall’s in Bellaire on Jan. 24.

According to police reports, police were called to the grocery store around 3:36 p.m. because a man had walked up to a patron in the store, snatched her cell phone and ran out of the store.

Police arrested Isiah Valdez, a 19-year-old Houston resident, for theft from person.

According to documents on file with the Harris County District Clerk’s Office, the charge was reduced to a misdemeanor.

Valdez pleaded guilty and received two years probation and was fined $100.

Keith Stone Look-Alike Robs Bellaire Area Bank

I saw The Toxic Avenger at the Alley Theatre over the weekend and learned from the program that one of the actors plays Keith Stone, the mullet-wearing Keystone beer guy in their television ads. We had no idea that he was also into robbing banks. Of course, it’s probably not him, but that wig sure does look familiar.

According to FBI investigators, a “bad wig bandit” shown above entered the Prosperity Bank at 4065 Bellaire Boulevard at approximately 12:20 p.m. Monday, approached a teller, demanded money and lifted his shirt to reveal a pistol.

Crime Report: Burglars Steal Cash from Bellaire Cars

Bellaire police are investigating three car burglaries that occurred on Jan. 9.

According to police reports, an officer was dispatched to the 4500 block of Palmetto around 6:35 a.m. because someone took $10 from an unlocked vehicle.

Police received another call around 7:41 a.m. about a GPS that was stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 4500 block of Palmetto.

A resident also reported that $20 was stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 4600 block of Park Court, according to the report.

Police are also investigating a home burglary that occurred on Jan. 9 in the 5500 block of Aspen.

The burglars forced entry into the home and stole an unknown amount of cash, police said.

Police Release Names of Suspects Involved in Fiery Chase

Bellaire police have released the names of the suspects who led officers on a car chase Tuesday that ended with a car catching on fire.

Michael Dewaine Brown, a 25-year-old Houston resident was charged with burglary of a habitation and evading arrest.

Danta Creighton Smith, a 23-year-old Houston resident and Harry Gradeny, a 21-year-old Houston resident, were charged with burglary of a habitation.

Officers responded to a burglary in progress at a home in the 5200 block of Mimosa on Tuesday, Jan. 10.

A resident observed three males loading property into the trunk of a vehicle and called the police.

The suspects scaled a fence and broke out a window to steal a safe from the residence, police said.

When officers arrived at the home around 2 p.m., the suspects were leaving the scene and tried to evade police, striking one patrol vehicle as they tried to escape.

Police chased the suspect vehicle northbound on Chimney Rock to the Southwest Freeway until the vehicle stopped near the Shepherd exit.

Two suspects fled on foot and were arrested; one suspect was arrested coming out of the vehicle, police said.

Officers removed the safe from the vehicle after it overheated and caught on fire.

All three men are currently in custody. Brown is being held on a $20,000 bond and Smith and Gradeny are being held on a $10,000 bond.

Bellaire police chased two men suspected of stealing a safe after they were led onto the Southwest Freeway on Tuesday.

The suspects reportedly pulled over near the Dunlavy exit where they were arrested. After the chase ended, the suspect’s car caught on fire.
